The New Futures Project is a voluntary organisation based in Leicester. We are a company limited by guarantee, number 4886192 and we are a registered charity (number 1118047).
We employ five full time and one part time worker who are assisted by a team of dedicated volunteers.
We work in partnership with the Community Drug Team, the Homeless Primary Health Care Service, Leicester Community Projects Trust, GenitoUrinary Medicine, and the Star Housing Team.
Our main funding sources are Leicester City Primary Care Trust, Leicester County and Rutland Primary Care Trust, The Henry Smith Charity, Comic Relief, Tudor Trust, Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales and the Safer Leicester Partnership.
The project supports girls and women, boys and men involved in or at risk of exploitation through prostitution.
The majority of the people who work on the street are homeless or of no fixed abode, so are often invisible to statutory agencies or other voluntary agencies. As a marginalized group with extremely chaotic lifestyles, they are generally reluctant to access mainstream agencies and need specifically targeted services.
We aim to enable people working in prostitution to work more safely, and to encourage them to make positive life choices.
We produce and distribute monthly newsletters containing information on dodgy punters, project news, contributions from the women and fact sheets on legal and health issues, please call us for more information.
