Meet our latest donor – they’ve made a welcome and vital contribution to our expanding counselling service

We are only able to do the things we do thanks to the generosity of our donors – who come in all shapes and sizes.

Financial support from relatively small charitable foundations, many of them created and run by families, is the lifeblood of welfare organisations like us.

One such funder, The George Ernest Ellis Foundation, which is based in Market Harborough, supports charities across the country, particularly those here in Leicestershire.

It has awarded us £2,000 for our ongoing work with women and young people, specifically to support our developing counselling service.

Carl Martin – direct services manager at The New Futures Project – said: “Immense gratitude to The George Ernest Ellis Foundation for supporting the work of the charity.

“Its always extra special when it is a local donor that recognises the work we do.”

Matthew Ellis, chair of trustees, said: “The George Ernest Ellis Foundation are delighted to be able to help charities such as New Futures. We are a small family charity looking to make a difference locally.”

The New Futures Project was set up more than 20 years ago to support women involved in sex work.

However, we have evolved into a comprehensive welfare and counselling service for women and young people dealing with sexual abuse or exploitation, domestic violence, trafficking, poverty and debt, substance use or mental ill-health.

We publish a monthly newsletter to tell the stories of the women we support and to round up all the things we’ve been doing.
