We've just welcomed our latest group of students to our counselling training courses - but now we can confirm we have room for one or two more learners.
Although the first Level 2 and Level 3 classes took place this week (Monday and Tuesday September 8 and 9), we are sure we will be able to get any new students up to speed quickly if they sign up in the next week or so.
The courses - details of which are here - are externally validated and accredited by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body, (CPCAB).
Teaching takes place at our base in London Road, Leicester city centre and run over the course of a traditional academic year, concluding in June next year.
Level 2 sessions take place from 6pm to 9pm on Mondays, while Level 3 classes are held on Tuesday, also between 6pm and 9pm.
We welcomed our first students in November 2023 – an achievement which was 'the culmination of a dream’ for our director, Della Kagure Brown.
Students' fees contribute to the project's running costs, not least our work with some of the most vulnerable women and young people in our community
Our director Della Kagure Brown said recently of the courses: “Do your friends say you’re a good listener? Are you the one who people turn to when things go wrong for them?
"Then you may have a real gift and maybe you could make a change and become a counsellor.
“Our courses will take you all the way through from an absolute beginner to qualified and studying with us means your course fees will go towards supporting women and girls in crisis.”
The New Futures Project offers a comprehensive welfare and counselling service for women and young people dealing with sexual abuse or exploitation, domestic violence, trafficking, poverty and debt, substance use or mental ill-health.
