Counselling Saves Lives: The CPCAB-accredited courses running at the New Futures Project

Last week, we published our Counselling Saves Lives series of articles to highlight an essential aspect of what we do here at the New Futures Project.
We told the stories of the wonderful students enrolled on our CPCAB-accredited counselling courses. Details of the courses coming up later this year are below and here on our website.
Other stories in the week focussed on those students who come to us to complete professional placements required by the counselling qualifications they are working toward at external colleges and universities.
Working with our support, these remarkable people work with our clients, including those who are living with trauma arising from sexual abuse and exploitation.
These articles reached a wide audience and, we hope, inspired people to talk to us about joining one of our courses or coming to us on placement.
Della Kagure Brown, director of the New Futures Project, said: "Training to be a professional counsellor at The New Futures Project supports our work in so many ways.
"All profits from our training courses go towards supporting vulnerable women and girls.
"Our trainee counsellors support our client group directly through completing placements at the charity.

"Most importantly when our trainee counsellors qualify, they continue to use the expertise they have gained through our training within their future practice with clients within the wider community.
"Counsellors training with the New Futures Project will continue to support the work of the charity throughout their career.
"In return we offer a rewarding and worthwhile career and the satisfaction of supporting our clients to achieve their full potential and becoming part of our community.
"Why wouldn’t anyone want to be a counsellor when doing so means they have a career helping them to recover from abuse and trauma and to live with hope and peace?"
Teaching sessions take place at our home in London Road - near Leicester railway station on the outskirts of the city centre - or online.
Our latest Level 2 certificate in counselling skills will begin on Tuesday, October 6, running from 6pm to 9pm. This is an online course.
Our Level 3 certificate in counselling studies gets underway on a date to be confirmed in October.
Our Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is set to open on Friday, October 23, running at the New Futures Project between 10am and 4.30pm. Classes will also take place online on alternate Thursdays between 2pm and 5pm.
You will find application forms, fees and other course details here on our website.

We had been planning for several years to offer this training, not least to generate income for the project and to help train a new generation of therapists.
We are running two Level 4 CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling courses this year, in June and September, however places are limited. Contact us for further information.
We welcomed our first students in November 2023 – an achievement which was 'the culmination of a dream’ for our director, Della.
The income generated by the courses supports our work with some of the most abused and socially-excluded women and young people in our community, including those who are living with the traumatic legacy of sexual abuse and exploitation.
We asked our students to write about their experiences of our teaching.
One of them, Rose, told us: "I’d recommend New Futures, as it’s a supportive learning environment with tutors who really know what they’re talking about.
"There is a high quality of teaching, and it’s personalised, practical, and purposeful.
"They’re not afraid to dig a little deeper, so you can get a true understanding of what it means to be a counsellor."
